The best Baltimore Catechism book that I have seen for a First Communion Catechism for children is Jesus Comes (available at Amazon), from the Our Holy Faith series, Vol 2, re-published by Neumann Press and now owned by the new TAN Books. The Catholic Catechism written by John A. Hardon, S.J. is an in-depth source book and orthodox study on the teachings of the Roman Catholic Church with an emphasis on the many documents that emerged post-Vatican II. Fr/5(45).

I don't have a lot of praise for Olcott's Catechism other than to say that i will consider its 14 "universally"-agreed-upon ideas to be a fair base upon which to build my understanding of the religion as a whole. If, like me, you are a Buddhistic ignoramus[1], then go ahead and read at least the first two sections of this little book/5. The Catechism does not water down the teachings of the Catholic faith. There is no fluff, just pure reasoning and knowledge of the faith. I like to cut to the meat of the subject and the Catechism does just that! #2 Economical. The books can be purchased for under $5 and used for many children or the questions and answers can even be downloaded.

A Scriptural Catechism – The book A Scriptural Catechism is primarily intended as a study or teaching aid on the subject of relating the aspects of the Catholic faith to Scripture. It is indexed to the Catechism of the Catholic Church and is meant to be a guide and companion to the Catechism of the Catholic Church, not a replacement of it. Religion textbooks were created, framed around the Catechism and while occasionally quoted, Christian publishers sought to communicate the formal teachings in a friendly and approachable manner. For younger Catholics, the Catechism may be a relatively unknown book.
